Local Vegetable: get healthy for free.
In the past, herbs, spices, and medicine were hardly separated. This means food and medicine were the same. Several types of food were not only tasty, but they were also good for health.
There are lots of spices and herbs all over the world. The knowledge of integrating herbs and spices in cooking has been passed from generation to generation and spread to other regions as well. According to the age of transportation, herbs and spices are not limited just in their regions, but everyone is able to taste and use them as cooking ingredients.
Local and imported vegetables, if we concentrate on the nutrition are not much different. For example, Cha-Plu (a herb of the betel family Piperaceae) and Neem are full of calcium. Khae (Sesbania), tip of tamarind and mango leaves also contain high vitamins.
Besides the nutrition they have, local vegetable are also used in favoring food without using sugar or MSG. This wisdom is often seen in many tribes such as, Hmong, Akkha, Karen. Young leaves of mango are used for sour taste. For the spicy favor, they use sweet basil and tomato. They can color the food with the natural color from the flowers as well. These prevent us from consuming the food favoring chemical which can harm our heath.
Thus, why do we have to pay more for the nutrition while we could find around our house? What do you think of the imported vegetables? Should the government push the campaign of consuming the local vegetable?

There are various kinds of herbs use in Thai food and these herbs are really good for health. Main herbs use for daily cooking such as chili, garlic and lemon grass. There are many different species of chili. All contain capsaicin, a biologically active ingredient beneficial to the respiratory system, blood pressure and heart. Other therapeutic uses include being a carminative and anti flatulence agent, and digesting. Garlic is an annual herbaceous plant with underground bulbs comprising several cloves. The bulbs contain a 0.1-0.36% garlic oil and organic sulfur compounds. Therapeutic uses are as an antimicrobial, diaphoretic, diuretic, expectorant, anti flatulence and cholesterol lowering agents. Therapeutic properties of lemon grass such as a diuretic, emmanagogue, antiflatulence, anti flu and antimicrobial agent.

Fresh herbs are better than dried herbs. If you have free time you can grow your own herbs at the backyard, so that you can eat fresh herbs everyday.

It's clearly that all herbs are very good for health. I can say I'm very luck to br Thai because there are many herbs all around, marker, and supermarket and even in a garden. Each kind of herb has its own unique characteristic. It’s easy to get and also too cheap. I think it isn’t necessary to get an imported herb in many different kind of product because they are too expensive. It might be a wrong belief about paying for an imported one to get better product and quality. People always overlook something close to them but try to reach other thing that is out of reach. Just go to a market or around your village and get some cheap and free herbs. Is it better than paying nearly a thousand baht of a small pot of chlorophyll?

I agree with you that Thailand is the land of various kinds of herbs. I used to read books about Thai herbs. It said that vegetables, fruits or flowers can be herbs. They can relieve some normal disease for example eating banana can relieve your stomachache. Moreover, Thai herbs are very easy to find especially growing around houses in the suburbs because the villagers believe all herbs can make them healthy. In the past only the people in the suburbs use herbs but now the people in the city aware to use more Thai herbs. I don't agree that some rich people usually pay much moeny for nutrition and imported vegetables. I think they should change their view to use Thai herbs because they were born in the land of fertility of the best herbs. It's not neccesary to look for something better than Thai's.

Definitely, local vegetables are not substandard from any imported vegetables, above all they are cheaper and more fresher due to they don’t need any transportation. I agree with you that we can find local vegetables everywhere, almost every green leaves are eatable and pack of nutrition as they are chemical free.

Each season we can consume a different type of herbs or vegetables to prevent us from cool or hot in our body systems due to the weather change. Yin-Yang balance something like that because some herbs are hot and some are cool in favor.

As we all agree that our Thai herbs and vegetable contains in many source of nutritious, high in vitamins. In case, we fancy to cook Westerners’ dishes we can go for “Doi Kum” project that they supply almost every kind of Western herbs and vegetables, prices are also very reasonable.
